The Deep Freeze Has Begun…

With temperatures in “The Great White North” this week hitting the -20s Celsius (BRRRRR), we felt it was a good time to remind you about the hazards of freezing ink.  ICYMI, we put a heat pack in every ink order to help prevent it from freezing in transit.  That said, there are other things you can do to make sure your ink doesn’t freeze en route to you.  Check out the video for more tips on ensuring your ink arrives safe and sound.

The Deep Freeze Has Begun…

EIKON TEAM | PUBLISHED JAN 14, 2022

The frigid January temperatures have arrived, (it’s currently -21C here in Kingston, Ontario) so it’s timely that we remind you of the high risk of ink freezing in transit. This is something we take VERY seriously, which is why since November we’ve been putting a heat pack in every ink order to reduce the risk of it arriving on your doorstep frozen solid. We’ll keep doing that until March, but while this step works fairly well, it doesn’t hurt to take a few other measures to safeguard your ink in transit during the winter months:

Place your order earlier in the Week

Depending on where your shop is located in Canada, most ground-ship orders take on average from 1-2 days* (Ontario and Quebec), 2+ days* (Saskatchewan, Manitoba) and 4+ days (Alberta and BC)*. Be sure to take this into consideration when placing an order that contains ink. If you place an order on Monday or Tuesday, shops in most provinces will likely get their package before the weekend. If you wait until later in the week to order, there’s a very good chance your precious ink will be spending the weekend in a truck parked outside…

Keep an eye on the weather

Try to avoid ordering ink during extremely cold weather snaps or when snowstorms are expected, as these may result in your order being stuck out in the cold longer than normal.

Use Express Shipping

The faster we can get your ink out of the cold and into your shop, the better. Most Express-Shipping options are so fast you'll be able to use our 72-hour heat pack as a hand warmer long after your ink is on your shelf. When not in transit, Express orders are stored indoors, further protecting your ink from the elements.

Ask for help

Our Customer Service team has been doing this for a while and can help you find more ways to keep your ink from freezing in transit.
