We know Needles...

Size Matters

Eikon Needles 101

Making needles specifically for tattooing is how we got our start. At the time most needles available for tattooing were bug pins, sewing needles, or beading needles. We began a study with the specific aim of exploring all the possible combinations of point
shape and length, and to identify what determines an ideal needle for tattooing. In the mid-90s we published a series of technical reports about our research findings and made it available to artists:

The Manufacture of Needles Specifically for Tattooing (1995)

Soldering (1996)

Configurations (1996)

This research was the basis of our needle development. We purchased needle making equipment from Germany (which we still have) and began making needles ourselves, in our garage in a small town just East of Kingston, Ontario.

The rest, as they say, is history...

Changing times...

The Move to Pre-Made Needles

When artists discovered the convenience of pre-made needles and moved away from the labour intensive practice of soldering loose needles onto a needlebar, we had to evolve as well. We used our extensive needle making experience to develop Eikon Black Box needles.

Eikon Black Box Needles

Round Liners

Soldered in a tight configuration to produce fine, crisp, linework, the unique combination of taper-length and grind allows for fast movement through the skin with little trauma. These liners have always been known to be ”finer than the average liner“ - now you know why you should give them a try.

Eikon Black Box Needles

Round Shaders

Looser configuration to allow easy needle penetration for solid colour-packing and shading in smaller spaces. The unique combination of taper length and grind allow for multiple passes over the skin with little trauma.

Eikon Black Box Needles

Magnums

They are soldered smooth with evenly spaced needles for color packing and solid shading in smaller spaces, and are especially great when you need to get into corners and up to the line. The unique combination of taper-length and grind, saturate the skin quickly.

Eikon Black Box Needles

Curved Magnums

Soldered with a gentle curve, the needles are evenly spaced for smooth colour-packing or shading in smaller spaces. The unique combination of taper-length and grind, saturate the skin quickly.
