New Product Badges/
If you’ve left your house, or surfed the web at all in the past few months, you've probably seen a bunch of new logos and badges being added to your favourite products on grocery store shelves, in store windows and yes, even your favourite tattoo supplier’s website 😉 … all trying to make your life easier when you’re trying to support Canadian businesses, big and small. But what does Made in Canada mean? How is it different from a Canadian Brand? Let's break it down a bit further…
We recently introduced 3 new badges that will appear on a bunch of products in the Eikon Store. They’re there to help you easily identify if a product is either Made in Canada, sourced from a Canadian Company, and even if its price has been impacted by tariffs. We can't speak for everyone, but here’s what we mean when we say…
Made In Canada
If you see this logo, it means that the product was made/produced/assembled in Canada. The ingredients/materials used may include Canadian or imported parts/ingredients, or a mix of both, but the important thing here is that the final product was built right here in Canada.
Need an example? Eikon Power Supplies have and will always be built here at Eikon, HQ in Kingston Ontario (for those of you who are new). They’re built using a mix of internal components that come from Canada, the US and overseas. Another example is Kappa Soap from Good Guy. This product is made from BC-sourced botanicals and bottled right here in Canada.
Canadian Brand
If you see this logo, it means that the product you’re buying has been sourced, branded and/or managed by Canadian-owned and operated companies. Products with this badge are not made in Canada, but choosing these products supports Canadian jobs and/or Canadian tattooing.
Here are a couple examples: Eikon Cartridges were developed here at Eikon HQ but are physically made in China (like nearly 100% of all tattoo needles and cartridges in the world!). Another example would be The Solution, a Canadian owned and operated company whose numbing spray is produced in the US.
Price Impacted by Tariffs
This one is pretty straightforward… If you see this badge on a product, it means that the price you’re paying has gone up due to tariffs. This could be due to tariffs slapped on the manufacturer, or Canadian counter-tariffs.
Either way, there will be no hidden fees or added costs at checkout. We’ll update the retail price and then flag that it has gone up, so that you can choose if you still want to support that product, or look for an alternative.
