Your privacy is very important to us, and the following will inform you of the information that we may collect from you, and how it is used. By using our Web site (www.eikondevice.com), you are accepting the practices described in this policy.
Principles
At Eikon Device Inc. (“Eikon”), we understand the importance of protecting the privacy of our customers' personal information. We are committed to complying with applicable privacy legislation and guidelines. We continue to respect and protect the personal information of our customers by:
- Limiting collection, use, disclosure, and retention
- Establishing procedures to receive and respond to inquiries and complaints
- Ensuring accuracy and accountability through staff training
- Safeguarding sensitive information using the appropriate security systems and practices
- If you have questions regarding the handling of your personal information, please contact us by any of the means listed below in "Contact Information".
Terms of Use
In addition to agreeing to the Terms and Condition set out here, by using Eikon’s website (“Website”), you consent to the collection and use of your information by Eikon as set forth in this Privacy Policy (as amended from time to time). Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be posted on our Website, so please check back periodically to ensure you have the most current version.
Information Collection
When you place an order with us through the Website, telephone, fax or other form, Eikon may collect personal information about you including: name, title, company, address, email address, website, phone numbers, payment card number and gender. In addition to ordering and registration, we may ask you for, and collect, personal information at other times including: when you enter a competition or contest; participate in a promotion or marketing campaign sponsored by Eikon or one of its business partners; when you want to find out about services offered in your area; when you complete surveys or other questionnaires; when you participate in a user forum hosted by Eikon or one of its business partners; when you send an email to Eikon; when you express interest in employment with Eikon; or when you engage in other activities on the Website.
Additionally, our web server logs collect the domain names of visitors to our Websites. This information is aggregated to measure number of visits, average time spent on our Website, pages viewed and website usage information. Eikon’s Website also deploys cookies. A cookie is a small data file stored on your computer's hard drive that contains information relating to your visit to our Website such as currency selection and shopping cart contents. When you leave and then return to our Website, this information is recalled to improve the shopping experience. You have choices with respect to cookies. By modifying your Internet browser settings/preferences, you have the ability to accept all cookies, to be notified when a cookie is set, or to reject all cookies. Please note that if you choose to reject all cookies you will be unable to use those services or engage in activities that require the placement of cookies.
Information Use
Except as otherwise set out in this Privacy Policy, the information we collect on this Website is used only by Eikon. We value our customers too much to jeopardize our relationship with them. Information is gathered at several points on our Website (see section "Information Collection"), but our customers do not have to worry about information being sold, shared or rented to others. Eikon takes appropriate precautions to ensure that you will not get on to any Internet mailing lists, outside of Eikon's list, because you visited or shopped at our Website.
Eikon’s primary goal in collecting personal information is to facilitate order processing and to enable us to contact you if a problem arises with your order. Such information is required when making a purchase. This information may also be used to provide you with a customized experience on our Website, which includes interactive communications, and other services. The Website may also contain optional surveys and questionnaires asking for information, as well as several opportunities for visitors to ask questions. We, and our marketing team, use the information you provide to help us design and build better products, to customize your shopping experience, and to provide advice and purchase recommendations. Taking part in any of these segments is always optional and voluntary. We also use the information we collect to help target valuable marketing and advertising offers to you. This kind of advertising may be done with banner ads as well as promotional emails sent by Eikon. Eikon may also match user information with third party data to help us better understand our customers.
Eikon also conducts research on our users' demographics, interests, and behavior based on the information provided to us when making a purchase, during a promotion, from surveys and from our server log files. We do this to better understand and best serve our users. This research is compiled and analyzed on an aggregated basis so as to prevent identification of personal information relating to any one individual. Eikon may share this aggregated data with our marketing team and/or advisors.
Registration
Choice of a display currency is the only piece of information initially required to browse any products on our Website. Should you wish to purchase online, you must register with us. When you register, we will provide you with a password-secured customer login that can be used for subsequent visits or for order inquiry purposes. You are responsible for ensuring that you keep this password confidential, and your information up-to-date.
Ordering
We require some basic information to process your order. Billing and shipping information is requested along with payment information. Credit card numbers and expiration dates are required for billing purposes, and are only saved if requested by the customer. Contact information, such as e-mail address and phone number, is used only to confirm your order or for contact purposes should we have trouble processing an order.
Once you have placed an order, we will send you an e-mail confirming receipt of your order. You will also receive a second e-mail once your order has been shipped from our warehouse. We do encourage customers to e-mail our Customer Service team their questions or comments. We read and respond to all the e-mails we receive.
Sharing
We use outside delivery services to ship orders, and a credit card processing company to bill customers for goods and services. We require that these companies do not retain, share, store or use our customers’ personal information for any secondary purposes. If you ever have a problem with billing or shipping, you should contact us directly and we will resolve the problem with you.
Security
When users submit sensitive information via the Website, their information is protected both online and offline. When our registration/order form asks you to enter sensitive information, such as credit card number, that information is encrypted and is protected with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This web protocol uses a private key to encrypt data that is transferred over a secure connection between our servers and your (client) machine. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of your web browser becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked (or open) when you are just "surfing". To learn more about SSL, visit: www.thawte.com. While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we take appropriate steps to protect customer-information offline. All of our customers' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted to employees who need the information for their specific duties. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up to date on our security and privacy practices. Finally, the servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
