Al Hartshorn, aka @alhartshorntattoo, is a big part of the 90’s Ontario and Canadian tattoo culture. Known for his dark (mostly), black and grey tattoo style that focuses mainly on fantasy and horror, his early flash was in high demand and helped him make a name for himself before he even picked up a machine.
A man after my own heart, Al’s a big music buff who actually marks time by referencing which albums dropped during that time period. He’s a record collector, and metal head, who also enjoys jumping on his motorcycle and going for a ride. Like many tattooists, he has an artist streak outside the shop, working on mini sculptures and airbrushing.
After reading the above, you may expect to hear coil machines in Al’s shop, but he’s a Bishop wand (packer) man, and loves their disposable grip. When it comes to the black ink he trusts with his work, he recently made the move to Kwadron Inx Enriched Black ink. As for cartridges, Al’s a big fan of Eikon Cartridges Soft Edge Mags 9,11 and 13’s, 7 Round Liners and 9 Round Shaders 🤟.
