Product Description

Meet TIM, the next generation of thermal copiers from 3K Instruments. Replacing the ever-popular A4 copier, a staple in tattoo shops for over 15 years, TIM uses thermal imaging heat from an infrared lamp to transfer your stencil design to thermal stencil paper. This means your original design must be drawn using pencil, carbon ink markers or laser printed designs.

Higher, faster exposure speed, making it more adaptable to all types and styles of stencil paper. When the manufacturer of stencil papers changed the formula of their products a few years ago, it introduced some new challenges. Some papers became more sensitive, making it necessary to expose them faster. TIM has a wide range of speed adjustments, so you can easily use all stencil papers for copying.

25% Less Energy Consumption (approximately) Outperforms current models and the competition.

Shorter cooling times and sensor controlled cooling phases TIM has integrated sensor-controlled cooling. This means it only cools when the device is warm, and cools much faster after it’s reached its maximum temperature.

How fast? Previously, after reaching the maximum temperature, the A3/A4 required 10-15 minutes of downtime to cool. Thanks to the sensor-controlled cooling, TIM will have you making copies again in as little as 6-7 minutes.

Easy-Clean Roller and Reflector Making your life a little easier and your stencils a little clearer, TIM has an easy to clean, specially coated glass reflector and an improved silicone coated drive roller that wipes down quickly and easily with alcohol wipes.

2-Year Warranty A thermal copier is a big investment for any shop. TIM is backed with a 2 year warranty, AND Eikon is an authorized thermal copier repair centre. Our in-house technicians can service and support your copier for the life of your unit.

Insider tip: Avoid using inkjet printed designs as they may result in a poorer quality stencil.

    TIM unit stencilling technique.

This unit is pretty cool. I was fortunate to receive one direct from the manufacturer. Eikon’s pricing is on par and is actually cheaper than if you needed to buy it direct and ship from Germany. So definitely invest in this bad boy. It operates Somali to a 3m secretary thermofax, but with a handful of modern advancements. For stencilling, it’s true that you may need a laser printer or toner copier in your shop. Those are effing expensive. So if all you have is a inkjet, make sure it’s an HP(their pigment based inks go through, but no other printer uses this pigment inks). For inkjet prints, cut the design out and tape it I to your yellow sheet on the thermal paper. You’ll need to run a design three times in the direct center of the carrier sheet(plastic sleeve). It always requires two passes with all printer types due to it needing to warm the Carrier sheet and internal glass tube, I don’t know why that is. If you have the original design drawn in micron or number 2 pencil then it should go through on the second run. The inkjet print has to be pristine and high contrast or you will get fuzzy edges that will stencil far darker than they are supposed to. It is frustrating to waste paper on this guy, but it does happen until you get used to it. I use it every day and now have the system at exactly where I need it. However, the season changes and with temperature and humidity changes, the thermal paper will behave differently. Be ready to take time to adjust it as the seasons…
