What Makes Solid Ink Different

Solid is committed to powder pigment based formulas with organic ingredients that are safe for skin. Federico Ferroni built this line knowing exactly what goes into every bottle. No vague ingredient lists. No cutting corners. Solid Ink is made in Miami, Florida, and every batch follows the same strict process. Health Canada registered. FDA-compliant manufacturing. You're not guessing what's going into your clients.

Powder Pigment Based, Not Dye

Ink solid is powder pigment based, which means better saturation and longer-lasting colour in healed work. Dye-based inks fade faster and shift tone. Powder pigments hold their place in the skin. That's why Solid's Heavy Black is three times as concentrated as their Lining Black. Fewer passes. Darker fills. Same safety profile.

Artist-Made, Not Corporate

Ferroni is a tattooer with more than 24 years behind the needle. He didn't design this ink in a lab. He designed it in the chair, testing what actually works on real skin during long sessions. Solid isn't owned by a private equity roll-up. It's independently owned and operated. That matters when you're choosing what goes into your clients.

Signature Sets for Traditional and NeoTrad Work

Eikon stocks Solid's artist-signature lines built for Japanese traditional, NeoTrad, and black-and-grey work. These aren't generic colour sets. They're curated palettes designed by working tattooers for specific styles. Compare the Horitomo 12-Colour Set against the Ami James Fundamentals 8-Colour Set. Both target traditional Japanese work. Horitomo goes deeper with authentic Japanese colour names and a dedicated Sumi black-and-grey system. Ami James is the accessible starter kit with English names and a reusable bag. Same quality. Different depth.

Horitomo Series for Japanese Traditional

The Horitomo line includes 12 colours named after traditional Japanese pigments. Bengara is an iron-oxide reddish-brown. Shu is vermilion. Gunjo is ultramarine. The Sumi Set is a four-tone black-and-grey wash system built for Wabori and Irezumi work. It's distinct from Solid's Black Label Grey Wash, which is Western-style. If you're working in Japanese traditional, this is the palette. Price is $210 CAD for the 12-Colour Set. Individual bottles like Bengara are $21 CAD.

Ami James Fundamentals for Entry-Level Traditional

Eight foundational colours for traditional Japanese work. Earth Brown, Royalty Blue, and six others. Less depth than Horitomo but easier to navigate if you're new to the style. Set price is $147 CAD. Eight bottles for the price of seven. Ships in a reusable colourful bag. It's the accessible option before you commit to the full Horitomo range.

Black Label for Saturated Fills

Heavy Black is Solid's flagship saturated black. Three times as concentrated as their Lining Black. Forum artists report it's at least double the darkness of comparable blacks on the market. Fewer passes to pack solid fills. Harder to spread for fine outlines, so it's not a universal black. Use this solid black ink for blackout work, deep fills, and heavy saturation. The 4-Colour Grey Wash Set includes Extra Light, Light, Medium, and Dark for Western-style black-and-grey. Price details available on individual product pages.

Pricing, Stock, and Eikon's Curation

Solid joined Eikon in 2015 after Montreal artists requested the brand. Eikon stocks the lines that fit Canada's NeoTrad and Japanese-traditional artists. Standard Series 2oz singles are $19.75 CAD. The 25-Colour Fundamental Set and 50-Colour Mega Ultra Deluxe Set are in stock for artists building a core palette. Sets include volume discounts. Sale pricing on clearance items when available. Sold individually or in curated sets. Compare pricing across products using the filters on this page.

What Eikon Stocks vs. Full Solid Catalogue

Solid manufactures 178 single-ink SKUs across all series. Eikon carries the lines that match Canadian artist demand. Horitomo, Ami James, Black Label, Old Pigments singles, and SMP Pigments by Billy DeCola are in stock. Chris Garver, Victor Chil, Tim Hendricks Magic Mix, and Max Rodriguez sets are not currently stocked. If you need a specific artist series not listed, contact Eikon directly. They source based on demand.

SMP Pigments for Scalp Micropigmentation

Billy DeCola's five-colour SMP line is the only scalp micropigmentation ink in Eikon's catalogue. Five tones: Black, Ultra Light, Light, Medium, Dark. Built for the illusion of hair follicles on bald or thinning scalps. Same Solid carrier formula, tuned for cosmetic tattoo work. Individual bottles and the full solid tattoo ink set are in stock. If you run an SMP clinic, this is your line.

Old Pigments for Heritage Formulas

Ten colours in frosted bottles following traditional pigment formulas from decades ago. Solid describes this line as what was available for tattooing many years ago. Cult following among traditional artists. Two-ounce bottles only. These colours include pigments that are not EU-legal, so they're North America only. If you're working in heritage traditional styles, this is the palette. Check individual product pages for price, stock information, and full ingredient details.
