We’ve been creating Eikon Essentials products with one goal in mind; to provide tattooists like you with high-quality tattoo supplies at artist friendly prices… But if we can do that, and the end result just so happens to be plastic-free, recyclable, compostable, biodegradable, or just reduces waste in general... Well, that's what we call a win/win.

ESSENTIALS
We may be experts at creating, finding, and sourcing tattoo supplies, but we still have a lot to learn about the world of ECO-Friendly Products. One thing we do know is that there’s still a lot of uncertainty when it comes to the proper disposal and recycling/compostability of eco-products used during the tattoo process. Your home composter, as well as many facilities across Canada, can’t handle the standard required for tattooing, or won't due to their biohazard classification. So while our eco products do adhere to these standards, our focus is on something we have more control over - reducing tattooing’s reliance on single-use plastics, but not at the expense of quality.

Our BAGS & SLEEVES meet both the ASTM 6400 standard, and TUV HOME certification, and can be composted in your backyard or, even more quickly, in an industrial facility.

Eikon Essentials BAGS are a lightweight, eco-friendly way to protect your tattoo machines, wash bottles and power supplies, from micro-spray and cross contamination (aka life in your tattoo shop). Like our SLEEVES, they’re plastic-free and fully compostable.
We knew this would be a big change for you coil machines users, so we put these BAGS through rigorous testing in-house, as well as on the convention floor, to ensure they’ll hold up to the heavy use, heat, and vibrations that they’ll endure during an 8hr+ tattoo session.
We’re really excited about our revamped BAGS & SLEEVES. Moving them away from plastic was a no-brainer, which is why we opted to only produce BAGS & SLEEVES in this material instead of offering them in both plastic and eco.

GLOVES
Eikon ECO STANDARD Biodegradable Gloves are made with a specially formulated material that appeals to microbes found in landfills, and enhances their enzymatic biodegradation. These gloves meet ASTM D5511 requirements and can break down 81% in 490 days with the potential to fully break down in 1-5 years, unlike standard nitrile gloves which can take 100 to 200+ years to break down into microplastics.

The Feel: 3.5mil nitrile -- thin, soft, and highly comfortable and equipped with textured fingertips for added grip, and a beaded cuff to prevent roll-down.

CERTIFICATION NOTE:
The ASTM E1963 certification listed on Showa brand gloves was withdrawn in 2007 and is no longer an active certification. Gloves like Stellar, Ronco and Eikon ECO STANDARD, are newer and were unable to be tested against this standard.
*ASTM D5511: This is a test that measures biodegradation under ideal landfill conditions in a controlled laboratory and assumes long-term expected biodegradability timing based in short-term measures. ASTM D5511 is traditionally 30 days long
**ASTM D6319: A nitrile glove that meets this standard has been certified for medical examination grade use. This benchmark, established by ASTM International, ensures the gloves provide a reliable safety barrier for healthcare workers and patients against biological hazards and chemicals.
