Tariffs, AMERICAN Tattoo Artists & Eikon
We’ll cut right to the chase—the tariff war is impacting our ability to support American artists in the ways we became accustomed to. We'll start with a summary, and then dive deeper into what's happening and how it’s affecting you and your shop.
Quick Hit List
- For 30 years, we've quietly paid all cross-border duties and tariffs for our US customers. (Yep, we always made sure you never saw those extra fees!)
- The recent, and significant increase in tariffs have made it impossible for us to continue to cover those costs. They've also made our current shipping solution to the USA temporarily unviable.
- As a result we've temporarily paused shipping to American tattooers while we explore alternative ways to share these new costs with you
Here's Where Things Stand at the Moment
Pausing shipping was not a decision that we made lightly. We know how disruptive this is — especially for artists who’ve relied on us for years. But the reality of these new tariffs forced us to rethink how we operate.
The tariff situation has been incredibly volatile, making it tough to communicate clearly until it directly impacted both us and you. This isn’t how we like to do things—transparency and clarity have always been our thing—but these circumstances are extraordinary.
How Did Our Shipping Model Break?
For decades, we’ve paid all cross-border tariffs on your behalf, so you never got an extra bill from Customs with your orders. But with these new tariffs in place, that model just doesn’t work anymore. We're now working on a way to share those costs transparently—so you know exactly what you're paying for, with no surprises.
Here’s how the process was impacted
- You placed your order at eikondevice.com
- We imported your order to our USA warehouse on our behalf
- All duties and tariffs were paid by Eikon on your behalf at time of import.
- THE NEW TARIFFS HAVE ADDED 25% – 150+% in extra import costs (see the Tariff Impact Infographic below)
- From there, FEDEX picked up the order and delivered them to you!
We know how much you rely on our supplies to keep tattooing, so we're actively exploring new solutions to effectively resume shipping to American tattooers while maintaining a viable business model.
To help us determine the correct path forward for our new US shipping solution, we're looking for your feedback on how you would prefer paying the import costs going forward

Option 1 | Option 2 |
---|---|
You pre-pay the costs of the tariff & duty as estimated by Eikon at time of checkout. | You pay the actual cost of the tariff & duty as calculated by US Customs at time of delivery. |
Pros: No surprises when you receive your order. | Pros: You'll pay the actual cost of import vs an estimate. |
Cons: We can only estimate the costs on our end so some orders may pay slightly more or less than actual based on averages. | Cons: You won't know the cost until the order is delivered. |
The Tariff Impact on Your Tattoo Supplies
To help make sense of all the percentages being thrown around, we've put together a visual breakdown of the “Prior to Feb 01, 2025” scenario, and Current impact tariffs are having.
On the left, you'll see how things looked when we were covering all cross-border duties and tariffs. On the right, you'll see the new reality: the amount that will now be paid by American Tattoo Artists when goods cross the border.

The total product cost is $228.50, but once you tack on the $131.15 in tariffs, the total cost jumps to $359.65.
Before February 1st, the duty and tariff cost for this order would’ve only been $26.55, which means we’re now looking at an increase of over $100 on this order alone.
So yeah… not the kind of math anyone enjoys doing, but important to see how mixed-origin orders get hit hard under the new rules.
