Panthera Ink Vegan - Panthera Ink Vegan
Why Panthera Ink Is Vegan
Panthera reformulated their entire line in 2022 to meet EU REACH restrictions. Every ink in this collection uses certified organic, carcinogen-free pigments with no animal-derived ingredients. Black Gold is preserved with witch hazel and citrus peel extracts instead of parabens. Panthera tattoo liner ink options like Tribal XXX and Liner Black, along with the Sumy greywash pair, all use the same vegan formulation. You're not trading ethics for performance, Panthera's vegan formula heals as dark as conventional blacks.
Preservative-Free Black Gold
Black Gold was Panthera's first preservative-free black. Instead of benzisothiazolinone or parabens, Panthera ink products use mandarin, bitter orange, and sweet orange peel extracts with ascorbic, citric, and lactic acids. Final gamma irradiation ensures sterility. The pigment is still CI 77266 carbon black, the vegan-friendly preservation system is what sets it apart. Heals jet black without synthetic additives.
Tribal XXX and Liner Black
Tribal XXX is Panthera's highest-pigment vegan black. Originally made for tribal fills and blackwork, it's now used across styles where maximum saturation matters. Liner Black uses the same vegan base but with lower molecular density, it pushes through round liner needles without drag. Both are REACH-compliant and free of animal ingredients. Same darkness, easier application.
Vegan Greywash for Black and Grey
Light Sumy and Dark Sumy are Panthera's paired greywash system. Both are vegan-friendly and dilute themselves through a tonal range without distilled water. Dark Sumy works for mid-tone fills and magnum shading. Light Sumy handles softer transitions and portrait work. The Sumy name comes from the Japanese word for ink, sumi. Panthera's Italian transliteration stuck. Artists working black and grey realism rely on this pair for skin tone and depth.
Smooth Blending and Smooth Finish
Ralf Nonnweiler's Smooth Blending and Smooth Finish inks extend the greywash range into hyperrealism. Smooth Blending is lower pigment than Light Sumy, it handles pores, wrinkles, and skin texture without leaving dotwork. Smooth Finish is the lightest tier. It saturates untouched highlight areas so they don't heal back to bare skin. Both are vegan, REACH-compliant, and made in Italy. If you're buying the Sumy pair, these complete the four-tier ramp from darkest fill to final highlight.
Made in Italy Since 2000
Panthera manufactures every bottle in Trento, northern Italy. The founders were tattoo artists for 25 years before starting the company. That background shows in how the inks are tuned, Liner Black flows differently than Panthera Tribal black ink because lining and filling are different applications. Panthera's vegan reformulation wasn't a marketing decision. EU REACH Annex XVII banned certain pigments and preservatives in January 2022. Panthera rebuilt the line to meet the standard without losing performance.
REACH-Compliant Tattoo Supplies
Every Panthera ink in this collection carries the "Black REACH Conform" or "REACH Conform UE" designation. That means certified organic pigments, banned carcinogens removed, and full EU regulatory compliance. Canada doesn't enforce REACH, but the standard represents the highest safety bar in tattooing. Artists switching from US-manufactured blacks notice no difference in saturation or healing. The vegan formula works.
