Liner Black vs. Tribal XXX

Liner Black flows easier through tight liner configurations. Tribal XXX carries higher pigment load for fills and blackwork but requires more hand pressure. Both heal equally dark. Pick Liner Black when you need speed and control on fine lines. Pick Tribal XXX when you're packing solid black or running bold outlines.

Black Gold: Preservative-Free Premium

Black Gold uses witch hazel and citrus peel extracts instead of conventional preservatives. No parabens, no benzisothiazolinone. Same carbon black pigment as the rest of the line, the premium price reflects the natural preservation system. Artists with sensitive clients or those avoiding synthetic preservatives default to this.

Greywash and Shading Tools

Panthera's Sumy line is a paired greywash system. Light Sumy and Dark Sumy dilute themselves through a tonal range without distilled water. Lower pigment than the fill blacks, higher control in soft shading and portraits. The name comes from Japanese sumi ink, Panthera's Italian transliteration, not a typo.

For hyperrealism work, the Ralf Nonnweiler series adds two more tiers. Smooth Blending handles pores and wrinkles without leaving dotwork texture. Smooth Finish is the lightest pass, final saturation of untouched skin so highlights don't heal back to bare. Together with the Sumy pair, you get a four-tier greywash ramp from darkest fills to barely-there finishing passes.

Cartridge and Machine Compatibility

Panthera inks flow through cartridge needles and coil machines equally well. Liner Black works with bug pins and tight RLs. Tribal XXX handles mags and shaders without thinning. No separation, no settling. Shake the bottle once before you pour into your cartridges and you're set for the session.
